Microsoft Power Automate

Technology is growing hastily and almost everything around us getting automated. There have been innovations and progressions in software technology in automating workflows. Microsoft Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow) is one such service that automate tasks by integrating to your favorite apps.

Microsoft Flow helps you to create automated workflows between your favorite apps and services to synchronize files, get notifications, collect data, and more.

You can collobarate your app and Microsoft Flow to harness some great advantages of both apps. MS Flow has large number of connectors integrated with it that can be used as triggers for a particular action. For Instance, You want to save your Gmail attachments to your Onedrive folder –

  • Add the mail connector of your choice and set the trigger.
  • Add a storage connector where you want the document to be saved.

You may have to provide the authorizations, for eg: Google Authorization for accessing your gmail as a onetime setup.

And Yes! Its automated. The Flow keeps running this tasks everytime a mail arrives with an attachment.

Creating a Flow consists of two main parts: A trigger, and one or more actions.

  • Trigger is the starting action for the flow. The trigger can be something like a new email arriving in your inbox .
  • Actions are what you want to happen when a trigger is invoked. Like the new email trigger will start the action of creating a new file on OneDrive

Templates

Microsoft Flow lets you create Flows and save them as templates for re-use. Microsoft itself has published quite a few templates for users to try out. These are pre-designed and easy to use. All you have to do is to provide the required credentials and settings to start using them.

Connectors

Connectors are the list of applications or services you can use with Microsoft Flow.

Connectors lets you create triggers and actions for creating your Flows. There are both Premium and Free connectors. You might require a Premium MS Flow account to get the benefit of the Premium Connectors that are loaded with some great features.
